Coaches
Whether you skip or graduate from group lessons, the following coaches are certified by United States Figure Skating (USFS) to teach private figure skating lessons at the Toyota Arena and you can contact them to arrange a lesson time on the club's practice ice. Our coaches are certified by USFS complete annual continuing education courses, they carry instructor's insurance, and they complete Safesport training. Lesson fees vary per coach, but on average they run $1/minute (so a 30min lesson would be $30), payable directly to the coach. This coaching fee does NOT include the additional $10 arena session fee for the lesson. In alphabetical order, we currently have:

Coach Biography: Janine is an enthusiastic and experienced figure skating coach with over 25 years of experience. She also offers large group private instruction for school field trips, homeschool groups and private events. Janine's coaching philosophy centers on fostering a positive and encouraging environment where skaters can develop not only technical skills but also discipline, resilience, and a lifelong passion for the sport. She truly believes that everyone can skate and enjoy the sport of figure skating at some level. She wants to share the magic of skating with as many people as possible. When not at the rink, Janine enjoys spending time with her husband and their four kids, fitting in as many memories as possible, surfing, skiing and hiking.

    Coach Biography: Jenny Bond has been coaching and training skaters of all levels for over 40 years, from beginners to International medalists. Her experience as a national medalist herself in Figures, Freestyle and Dance, as a professional ice dancer with world-touring ice dancing companies, and as a choreographer of television and holiday shows brings a wealth of experience and skill to any student serious about competing at a state, national or international level of competition. Jenny's personal focus has long been to develop positive and successful skating programs for all ages (recreational and competitive), to increase public awareness of skating programs and their benefits, and to instill confidence in serious athletes.

    Coach Biography: Ann Doherty has been coaching in Tri-Cities with TCFSC since 1989. She thinks it is important to challenge and motivate her students to focus on where they can improve. She is very specific and gives her students strong technical guidance. She is honest with them when they have made mistakes and gives them good corrections. She also encourages her students to pay attention to and listen to their bodies and not to push it so far as to injure themselves. As a Technical Specialist (TS), she is able to stay on top of the various program requirements and rule changes for competitions and tests.

    Coach Biography: Allison has been figure skating since 1990. She was a competitive figure skater and ice theatre performer in Salt Lake City, Utah. Allison graduated from the University of Utah with a bachelor's degree in journalism with an emphasis in dance and new media. She has trained with national/international coaches, choreographers, and Olympians all across the country.

    Coach Biography: Krista began skating in 2000 and enjoyed a long competitive career that continued through her college years. As a competitor, she participated at the regional level and competed multiple times at National Showcase, gaining broad experience in both traditional and performance-based skating formats. While attending the University of New Mexico, she helped found a collegiate figure skating team alongside fellow skaters and proudly served in leadership roles as both president and vice president. Building and leading the team strengthened her commitment to fostering inclusive, supportive skating environments and mentoring skaters of all levels. Her coaching journey began early, starting as an apprentice coach at age 12 in 2003. She began teaching group lessons in 2006 and, upon turning 18, expanded into private coaching. She has since coached skaters from beginner through the Bronze/Juvenile level, focusing on strong fundamentals, goal setting, and confidence on the ice. She is a US Figure Skating Level 1 Coach with accreditation in Singles/Free Skate and Program Director and is passionate about helping skaters develop solid technical skills while cultivating a lifelong love for the sport.
